One of my favorite things in life is what I call a "Bow Tie Doctor". This is, well, a doctor who wears a bow toe.
There is just something comforting, whimsical, and respectable about a physician sporting a bow tie.
I suppose people in other professions look nice in bow ties too, but when I see a lab coat paired with a bow tie I have to smile.
The other day I saw a young bow tie medical student!
I was thrilled to see this breed move forward.
I wonder if there is a "bow tie doctor" scholarship fund.....

Maybe they hand out bow-ties to a select few -- those that they deem worthy....
I think you might be on to something there!
I don't think there is a special scholorship for bowtie wearers, if there is then I sure missed out. I am not a doctor or a scientist or anything like that, I manage the accounting department of a marketing ferm. I have had no complaints so far, living proff that only doctors can wear them outside of formal wear. I guess if you were a lawyer or a stock broker you wouldn't want to wear them, since most people find people who wear bowties to be untrustworthy.
I am glad to hear you sport the bow tie, Anonymous.
I did not realize they had the connotation for being not trustworthy! Hmmm, I suppose one wants to trust their doctor.
Maybe I have been charmed by the bow tie!
bow ties are the coolest!
Ha! Bow ties rule!
We used to have a weatherman who wore bow ties...he retired. I miss him!
Mimi might be right - perhaps they bestow the bow tie to only the most worthy of docs. Something to ponder
my high school english teacher always wore a bow tie, and i thought that was pretty brave. he also had a bum hip from 'nam, so that was probably were the courage came from...
I don't know, but I know that I would contribute to it if there were such a thing.
Who wouldn't?
I'm sorry to break the win streak for bow-ties but I feel they are a fashion item which should be forgotten. Much like Buffalo shoes (the high ones), pink shirts on men, and the goat beard. Why wear a bow-tie when you have the classic tie?
Anyhow. :)
Well, Martin, you are entitled to your opinion and I know you have good sense.
The Bow Tie Doctor is a rare breed, so the standard necktie reigns!
