The "I have a dream"-iest thing I saw today

"I have a dream that one day, down in Alabama, with its vicious racists, with its governor having his lips dripping with the words of interposition and nullification; one day right there in Alabama, little black boys and black girls will be able to join hands with little white boys and white girls as sisters and brothers."
-Martin Luther King Jr., "I Have a Dream" speech, August 28, 1963

I was not in Alabama, but riding the bus in Minneapolis, Minnesota today I saw two little girls smiling together, enjoying the sun and a stroll with their dolls.

They each were helping to push the stroller and their dolls sat cuddled next to each other.

One girl was blonde and pasty and one girl had dark hair and dark skin. One doll was white and one doll was black. A little white girl and a little black girl nurturing their dolls in harmony.

If only the 1980's Whitney Houston were here to sing us out....

"I believe the children are our future Teach them well and let them lead the way Show them all the beauty they possess inside Give them a sense of pride to make it easier............."
